Johnny Undeli

As head of Bauxite & Alumina, Undeli has the responsibility for Hydro's new global business area within bauxite mining and alumina refining, mainly with operations in Brazil. The area has some 2.500 employees and headquarters in Rio de Janeiro.

Before taking over this business area in June 2010, Undeli was head of the Extruded Products area and responsible for its global aluminium extrusion activities since March 2009.

Undeli began his career in 1977 with the French petroleum company Total, where he worked for six years in the United Kingdom, before joining Hydro's Oil & Energy Division.

In 1989, he moved to Hydro's aluminium operations, where he has been active for more than 20 years in various operational and managerial positions both in Norway and Switzerland, primarily in the area of extruded aluminium products. He has served as chairperson for several of Hydro's extrusion plants and units in Europe, and headed the company's extrusion activities in Europe and Asia from 2006 to 2009.

Born in 1953 in Gjøvik, Norway, Undeli graduated from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology with a Master of Science degree in petroleum technology.
