In Brazil, Hydro is present in many parts of the aluminium value chain.

Brazil is Hydro's main source of the important raw material bauxite and is the country where the company has the most employees - or more than 6,000 if long-term contractors are included.

In Brazil we extract raw materials in Paragominas and Trombetas and we refine bauxite to alumina (aluminium oxide) at the world's largest alumina refinery, Alunorte.

We also produce 460,000 tonnes of aluminium metal annually at the Albras plant, which we partly own.

From our extrusion plant outside São Paulo, we feed one of the world's fastest growing economies with aluminium profiles and precision tubing for use in the transport and construction industries, among others. Brazil is also a major market for our rolled aluminium products.
