In Portugal, Hydro is present with aluminium extrusion and building systems operations. The company has about 550 employees in the country.
The extrusion plant in Cacem, near Lisbon, was established in 1971 and taken over by Hydro in 1995. The plant serves primarily general extrusion customers
Hydro also has a significant aluminium building systems operation near Lisbon, in Prior Velho, where the company brought together two separate companies in 2002. It combined the Domal systems facility, which was established in 1936 and taken over by Hydro in 1995, and the Technal systems company, which Hydro acquired in 2002.
