In Spain, Hydro is present with aluminium extrusion operations, and as a supplier of building systems and aluminium metal products. The company has about 740 employees in the country.
The company’s aluminium building systems activities are based in Parets del Valles, near Barcelona, and with an office in Madrid. However, the largest of the building systems operations are located in the northern part of Spain, with the Alumafel-brand group, which Hydro acquired in July 2008.
Hydro's extrusion operations are located in La Roca and in Pinto.
The La Roca extrusion plant, near Barcelona, was founded in 1963 and taken over by Hydro in 1991. It has two extrusion presses and serves primarily general extrusion customers.
The Pinto plant, established in 1987 and located near Madrid, was acquired in April 2008. The site also has two extrusion presses. It serves general extrusion customers, and has large parts of its production aimed toward the industrial sector and building industry in Spain.
Hydro sells rolled products through its office in Barcelona and recycles aluminium at its metal remelter in Azuqueca de Henares.
