Canada
Hydro presents the entire value chain when producing aluminium. From refining bauxite and generating its own electrical power, to producing primary aluminium and manufacturing products such as casthouse products, building systems, extrusions, rolled products, and automotive and transport.

In Canada, Hydro is present as part-owner in primary aluminium production, and has about 2 employees.
Hydro owns a 20 percent interest in the Alumineria Alouette primary aluminium plant, which is located in Sept-Îles, in the province of Québec. The plant produces primary aluminium on two prebake lines.
In 2002, Hydro decided to participate in the expansion of the plant, which would make Alouette the largest aluminium plant in North America and among the world’s lowest operating-cost primary aluminium plants. The expansion project was completed in 2005.
