Hydro has a significant aluminium building systems operation near Lisbon, in Prior Velho, where the company brought together two separate companies in 2002. It combined the Domal systems facility, which was established in 1936 and taken over by Hydro in 1995, and the Technal systems company, which Hydro acquired in 2002.
