Within a strong year for Hydro, underlying income from continuing operations in the fourth quarter of 2007 fell to NOK 1,425 million, mainly due to lower aluminium prices, weakening markets for downstream operations and unfavorable currency developments.
“New” Hydro reported income from continuing operations of NOK 2,621 million in the third quarter of 2007, up from NOK 2,581 million in the previous quarter and NOK 1,354 million in the same quarter of 2006.
Hydro reported record net results for the second quarter and half year 2007, confirming the company's solid operational and financial strength. Continuing high aluminium prices and a sharp rise in oil prices contributed to the quarterly results.
