Ask a trainee
Meet two of our trainees and ask them questions about their experiences at Hydro.
Christine M. Dela Cruz
Economic Analyst, Global Alumina and Smelter Growth, Oslo, Norway
"The Hydro trainee program has been a very interesting and challenging journey. I began in the Risk Management department of Corporate Finance working as an analyst. I am now an economic analyst in Global Alumina and Smelter Growth helping to evaluate various international business opportunities for the aluminium business. The trainee program has provided me broad work experience and knowledge of the industry, as well as an opportunity to travel abroad."

Øivind Moe Tangen
Technical Trainee (physical metallurgy), Casthouse Department, Karmøy, Norway
"I’m very happy with my trainee program so far. I’ve been given interesting tasks that I will enjoy working with in the months to come. The first couple of weeks in the job I got to learn more about the different key activities in the casthouse by working shifts: I got more production experience that way. Currently, I’m working closely with the research department, operators and others to improve the quality of the final product, extrusion ingots."

Questions and Answers
Hi Christine,
I learned about the Trainee program formally today while Hydro came to NHH in Bergen. I would really like to have a good idea of the diversity of the 24 trainees currently on the team. What are nationalities represented? This is incredibly interesting to me. Are there currently any Canadians on board?
Nathan
Hi Nathan
The trainees 2007 is consist of nationalities from India, Pakistan, Germany, Australia, Indonesia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Scandinavia and many others. We do not currently have a Canadian this year but we did have one from Canada in the previous year's programme. The trainee programme aims to get the best of the best from all parts of the world. Therefore, I encourage you to apply to make our trainee team even more diverse.
Best regards
Christine
Hello Christine,
I have majored Industrial Management last month, I'm 25 years old. I'm living in Tehran and I would like to join to your trainee programme. Please recommend me to what I have to do?? and how can I apply to be there, Thank you so much!!!
The trainee programme promotes diversity and the majority of trainees are foreigners. It is an added advantage if you also have an international experience. On the website, you will find out some information about the programme including the trainee positions available. The relevant roles and qualifications are also indicated for each position. My advice to you is to look into these various positions and choose the one that interests you the most. If you are unsure about the descriptions of the positions, please do not hesitate to contact the relevant HR or contact person mentioned on the advertisement for clarifications. They are always willing to help. Focus on your key skills and experience when applying. Good luck to your application!
Best regards

Dear Amir,
I`m pleased to hear from you Amir. Thanks for the questions and congratulations to Your graduation. Great to hear that you want to join the Hydro Graduate Trainee Program 2008.
I can put me in your situation because I`ve been there my self. First of all I would have applied to a position -the one that's fits you / the one that you find most interesting based on your education background ( please see the Hydro.com pages). I'm sure that you have read the information for the Trainee program at the Hydro.com pages.
You can apply to a position by sending in a Online application form (unless specified differently in the job advertisement). The main application deadline is November 20, 2007. In the Online application you would be able to add your education, work experience and an application letter (It`s very easy). In each of the job advertisements you will find a contact person that you could call. Please feel free to contact this person. This person will be able to answer all of your questions (regarding army etc...)
You can find all the open positions in the following link; http://www.hydro.com/en/Jobs-and-careers/What-we-offer/Trainee-programme-/Trainee-positions/
So back to your serve in the army. Honestly, If I were you, I would have applied for a position to the Trainee program 2008. You have nothing to loose by sending in a application. The start day of all the positions are between May and October 2008. So If you join the army now you may be able to join us in October 2008?
PS! Best luck to You and please feel free to contact me again if you have further questions. I´m more than happy to answer them.
Vennlig Hilsen/ Best Regards
