The chassis and suspension system ensures that passengers enjoy a smooth ride, that the driver remains in control, and that the car is not affected by bumps in the road. Modern systems make it possible to drive at high speed over great distances – safely and with less fatigue.

Lightweight metals are commonly used to reduce car weight. Reduced weight of the parts of the car that are not sprung - wheels, brakes and suspension components - helps to improve both the car’s running characteristics and suspension behavior and, therefore, comfort, safety and handling.

At the same time, the demands placed on the suspension system continue to grow, as the weight of new systems, such as air conditioning, diesel engines and equipment for additional crash protection, increases the weight of vehicles.
