Hydro’s basis material, Raffinal, is produced in our 3-layer electrolysis at Vigeland, Norway. As the global leader in high purity aluminium, all our activities have one common target: to create the highest quality standards in close cooperation with our customers.
Key features
- The purity of this aluminium is measured in parts per million (ppm) and ranges from 99.99 to 99.998 per cent.
- Raffinal is also used as a semi-finished product for further refining processes.
- The high quality standards of the electronics industry are reflected in the demands on the capacitor foil, hard disc and bright trim industries.
- Hydro High Purity meets these requirements by supplying high purity aluminium produced exactly to requested specifications.
- We use 3-layer electrolysis as well as the segregation (fractional crystallisation) technology to refine aluminium. By combining these two technologies, we can reach the desired characteristics of the high purity aluminium required by the market.

- Raffinal can be delivered in different product shapes – sheet ingots, billets ingots and pigs.
