President and Chief Executive Officer 2001-2009
Eivind Reiten was President and Chief Executive Officer of Hydro from 2001 to 2009.
Eivind Reiten withdrew from the position as President and CEO in March 2009 and was replaced by Svein Richard Brandtzæg.
Throughout his career, Eivind Reiten has held a number of leading positions in Hydro. From 1999 he was Executive Vice President for Hydro's Light Metals business area.
Between 1996 and 1998 he was head of Hydro Aluminium Metal Products. From 1992 he was head of Hydro's Refining and Marketing Division. From 1991 he was Senior Vice President, Special Projects. From 1988 he was head of the Energy Division, following a two-year period in Hydro Agri.
From 1990 to 1991, he was Minister of Petroleum and Energy in the Norwegian government. During the seven-year period from 1979 to 1986, Reiten held several governmental posts including Junior Executive Officer in the Ministry of Fisheries and Secretary to the Center Party's Parliamentary Group and State Secretary, Ministry of Finance and Minister of Fisheries.
Eivind Reiten, born 1953, graduated from the University of Oslo in 1978 with a degree in economics.
