Pedro José Rodrigues (1953), São Paulo, Brazil, is Global Director of Vale S.A.
He is a Chemical Engineer from Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado, São Paulo, Brazil.
Currently, he is the Global Director of Mergers and Acquisitions of Vale S.A. He joined Vale in 2005 as a Department Director with the responsibility of seeking the diversification of Vale's portfolio, and geography. He leads the execution of several projects that introduced Vale in the coal, nickel and fertilizer businesses. He is also responsible for the management of Vale's investments in the aluminum business and coordinate Vale's participation in Samarco (JV with BHP) and in MRS (a rail company JV with CSN, GERDAU and USIMINAS) in Brazil.
Prior to that, he worked for 25 years in JPMorgan and its predecessors Chase and Chemical Bank, holding several positions in the client coverage, corporate finance, project finance and privatization areas in Brazil.
He served as a Board Member at Fosfertil S.A., the largest Brazilian fertilizer company, from 2010 to 2012.
