Trusted partner
Western Extrusions buys extrusion ingot - and a lot of it - from Hydro’s remelting operation outside of Dallas. As a general extruder, Western Extrusions juggles many customers’ demands for a wide range of products, and needs a partner that can deliver.
“Western Extrusions is the largest single-site customer in our system,” explains Jim Walters of Hydro’s Commercial Products business. “We try to be as proactive as we can. We work very closely with them throughout our organization.”
When Western Extrusions wanted to expand its product range, Hydro was there to help, Charles McEvoy says: “We went to Hydro and asked them if they could supply 14-inch billet. The two came together on time and we now have 14-inch logs. We can run extrusions that are as much as 14 inches in circle size down to well under an inch. The product we get from Hydro is of primary quality. It is consistent and reliable. Hydro has been able to do that by working closely with our production people and their production people.”
Customers count
Hydro’s responsiveness allows Western Extrusions in turn to be responsive to its customers. “The real definition of being close is the working relationship that you have, so that you're working together to meet requirements,” Walters says. “After all, it’s not only our customer, but their customer, that counts in the end.”
Charles McEvoy sums it up this way: “We are very happy with the fact that they listened to us and responded to what we needed. The best thing about Hydro is that we really do get what we want, when we want it.”
You got it.
