Can I do it with a friend?

We love teamwork. We also love solo brainpower. You can either register as a solo entrant or as a team of two people (maximum). If a team of two wins, each person will get the prize as long as they have both registered for the Challenge before the registration deadline of 15.00 on Thursday, April 23.

Great prizes!

A panel of Hydro scientists, engineers and NTNU professors will review all the entries and choose a first and second place winner for each challenge. One first prize – a MacBook Air – will be awarded to the best submission for each of the three challenges. One second prize – an iPod Nano – will be awarded for each challenge. iPod Shuffles will be awardedto all other entries. The judges’ decisions are final.

Criteria are published in the description of each challenge on hydro.com. The judges will announce the winners at 19.00 the same evening at Tapas@Six, the student dinner being held at Kjelhuset. You can pick up a ticket for dinner from the Hydro stand in Realfagbygget on April 23. Winners will also be notified by text message.

Criteria

Each of the challenge will have criteria noted in the brief that the judges will use to pick the winners. In addition to the specific criteria, these general criteria will be used to evaluate the entries:

  • Potential effectiveness/impact of the proposed solution
  • Uniqueness of the technology concept
  • Viability of building the solution with known technologies
  • Clarity and simplicity of the explanation

Your ideas

Submission of an idea to The Hydro Challenge does not assign any intellectual property rights in the idea to Hydro. However, as a condition of entry to The Hydro Challenge you agree to grant Hydro an exclusive right to commercialize the idea, subject to reasonable remuneration.

As a participant, you are responsible for protecting any information concerning your idea. It’s important to remember that the possibility to obtain patent protection is lost if an idea is disclosed before a patent application has been filed.
