(Feb. 23, 2004) The London Metal Exchange announced on Monday that Jon-Harald Nilsen, executive vice president of Hydro Aluminium, has been appointed to serve on the LME board as an invited director.
Nilsen will be taking his seat on the board of The London Metal Exchange Limited from 25 March 2004 and will be in attendance at the LME board meeting on that date, according to the LME press release.
"I am delighted that Jon-Harald has accepted this appointment. He brings with him substantial experience of the metals trade to the LME, and he is highly respected by his colleagues in the industry. We rely to a great extent on the different perspectives that invited directors bring the Exchange and I am sure that his insights will add tremendous value to the LME going forward," the LME chief executive Simon Heale comments.
The LME is the world's premier non-ferrous metals futures and traded options exchange. Trading takes place through open outcry "in the ring", through an inter-office broker/dealer telephone market and through LME Select. The LME turns over some USD 2,500 billion each year.
