(Jan. 26, 2004) Hydro Energy plans to make a good impression at the E-World energy congress and trade fair in Essen, Germany, February 10-12. This year's stand features an exciting contest with a grand prize trip to either a Hydro offshore oil platform or the Havøygavlen wind park in far northern Norway.
"E-world – energy and water 2004" has become the premiere European gathering for the power, gas and renewable energy industries – with more than 340 exhibitors representing the hydrogen energy, gas and power, water and renewable sectors.
Hydro's mission is "to create a more viable society by developing natural resources and products in innovative and efficient ways."

"Hydro Energy reflects this viability through its energy production means – hydro, hydrogen, wind and gas power – and its business and supply strategy. Our five values – respect, foresight, cooperation, determination and courage – are very important in establishing and maintaining good relationships with old and new customers," says Hydro Energy vice president and gas and power marketing chief Olav Skalmeraas, who delivers a presentation on Hydro's market position in Germany and Northwest Europe on Wednesday, February 11.
In addition, Hydro senior vice president for Mid-Norway, Bengt Lie Hansen, will deliver a breakfast presentation on Wednesday morning about the Ormen Lange offshore gas field development project, which will start delivering gas to European customers in 2007.
Hydro Energy's stand (main hall 3-523) is staffed by diverse energy experts from both the Cologne, Brussels and Oslo offices.

"A key feature this year is a 'power price prize' – entailing a paid trip to a Hydro offshore oil and gas platform in the North Sea, or to its wind power park at Havøysund near North Cape in far northern Norway," says Turid Siebenbrunner, Hydro Energy's power marketing manager.

"Contestants predict the German spot power price for February 13, always set at 12 noon the previous day," she explains. "The winner will be announced at 1:30 p.m. on the 12th… if there's more than one correct answer, the winner will be determined by a drawing the same day. The contest is challenging because it requires some gas and power market knowledge."
"E-world is a pan-European marketplace for the gas and power industry," says Erik Gonder, Hydro Energy's key account manager for gas sales to Germany. "It not only gives us the opportunity to make new contacts, but to meet our peers and develop productive relationships.
"Hydro is a major gas supplier to Germany and it's also our most important gas market," Gonder emphasizes.
"It's also our most important electricity market outside Norway," adds Siebenbrunner.
