Cheering at the stadium - with Hydro

 

 

(June 16, 2004) The cheering has started at Euro 2004 in Portugal - and Hydro Aluminium, with its advanced building systems, is right in the middle of the soccer tournament.

The stadium encircling the playing field sets an important stage for a successful event - for the players, spectators and the arrangers - and the millions of television viewers who will be following the matches.

The European championship - and in two years, the World Cup in Germany - is being hosted at stadiums with buildings systems of aluminium extrusions from Hydro, chosen because of innovative solutions, high strength and easy maintenance - not to mention price and delivery.

A unique experience

Portugal intends Euro 2004 to be a unique experience for players and spectators alike, and not just in terms of the sporting activities. Seven new stadiums have been built and three others completely renovated.

Technal is the clear market leader in the Portuguese construction segment and its team of experts have secured that the best designs possible were used for the new soccer stadiums.

Innovatiove solutions

Euro 2004 is not the only soccer championship where Hydro is contributing aluminium building systems and profiles.

For the World Cup, to be held in Germany in 2006, renowned architects in partnership with Wicona have planned a unique new façade of glass and aluminium for Munich’s Fröttmaning stadium. The new façade is planned to consist of 50 to 60 metric tons of aluminium profiles.

When the Fröttmaning stadium is completed, it will have seating capacity for 66,000 spectators and be the home ground for two well known German teams - FC Bayern Munich and TSV 1860 Munich. With the exciting new architecture, the stadium will make an important visual impression and gathering place for cup - one of the biggest sports arrangements in the world.
