AWARD: "Year 2003 Outstanding Foreign Investment Enterprise in Xi'an Economy and Technology Development Zone"

Hydro Magnesium's China plant is the largest export company in the Xi'an Economy and Technology Development Zone.

"Our efforts in the field of health and safety have been recognized. We are proud of our zero TRI (Total Recordable Injuries) rate, and we aim to keep up a high standard of health and continuous improvement," says Rose Li, head of Human Resources.

The 100-percent Hydro-owned magnesium remelt facility shares the award with other companies, such as Xi'an Coca Cola, Xi'an Siemens and Xi'an Mitsubishi.

"Management at Xi'an strives to build a continuous learning organization in several ways: by focusing on the employees' behavior, by coaching and training and by means of supportive reward systems to enforce safe practices," says Keith Jones, vice president of European and Asian operations. The average workforce age is under 30 years and all employees in the plant have completed at least vocational technical school education.
