Hydro 'home' hosts 19th International Aluminium Conference

(Sep. 15, 2004) From September 20-21, Oslo will be the place to meet for representatives from the international aluminium industry.

Next week, Metal Bulletin will be bringing its International Aluminium Conference back to Europe and to the city of Oslo. The conference will address industry issues, challenges and opportunities facing the global aluminium industry. With more than 500 participants from all over the world, this conference expects an international aluminium audience.

Oslo is the "home town" of Hydro and its Aluminium business area, and Hydro is spending a special effort on the preparation of this event.

"Given our strong position in the aluminium industry, it was natural for us to take a leading role at the Metal Bulletin Conference 2004 in Oslo," says Marianne Aamodt, head of Communication in Hydro Aluminium.

"This gives us an excellent opportunity to profile Hydro Aluminium by contributing to the formal program and highlighting the Hydro logo."

ADDRESS: Jon-Harald Nilsen, head of the Aluminium business area in Hydro, will open the conference in Oslo.

In addition to the formal program, Hydro participants, primarily from the Primary Metal and Metal Products sectors, will have the opportunity to discuss important issues with colleagues from other companies in the industry and strengthen their network.

Official opening by Hydro Aluminium's president

Hydro Aluminium president Jon-Harald Nilsen will officially open the 19th International Aluminium Conference on September 20 with a speech about Aluminium's road map: "Creating innovative and sustainable solutions for today's challenges and tomorrow's opportunities."

After the opening, the participants will take part in seminars, workshops and round tables regarding the future development of the international aluminium industry.

At the conclusion of the conference, Hydro has invited the participants to visit Hydro's primary metal plant in Sunndal and the Automotive Structures plant at Raufoss.
