New ownership structure for Naturkraft

(Sep. 22, 2004) The owners of Naturkraft AS - Statkraft, Hydro and Statoil - agreed today to amend the ownership structure of Naturkraft AS.

Statoil will transfer its shares to Statkraft and Hydro, who will thereafter each hold a 50 percent interest in Naturkraft.

Naturkraft AS was licensed in 1997 to construct and operate gas-fired power plants on Kårstø and Kollsnes.

The owners agree that Naturkraft AS will not avail itself of the license to build a gas-fired plant on  Kollsnes and the authorities have been informed of this.

As part of the restructuring, it has been decided that Naturkraft will retain the license to build a gas-fired plant on Kårstø, where the remaining owners intend to realize a project.

”We are very pleased with the agreement reached. Conditions are now conducive to the increased use of Norwegian gas domestically, ensuring continued industrial development and energy supplies,” say Hydro’s president and CEO Eivind Reiten, president of Statkraft Bård Mikkelsen and senior vice president Einar Strømsvåg of Statoil in a joint statement.
