Hydro has created an additional 100 jobs in its precision tubing organization in Denmark this year. One reason is the significant increase in sales volume for microchannel aluminium tubes that customers use in air-conditioning systems.

Hydro is entering into a joint venture with the Australian mining company United Minerals Corporation (UMC) with the intention of recovering bauxite and producing alumina in Kimberley, Western Australia. The agreement, which was signed in Oslo on Tuesday, gives Hydro a 75 percent share in the partnership.

Hycast AS of Sunndalsøra has signed a letter of intent worth NOK 217 million with FATA of Italy for the supply of casting equipment for the new aluminium plant to be built in Qatar. The agreement includes design and the supply of equipment for casting extrusion ingots and foundry alloys.
