Aluminium façade in Sheffield's tallest building

The Wicona unitised curtain walling system has been specified for a new 32-floor tower in Sheffield, which will be the tallest building in the British city. The £3.5m façade contract will be delivered by Solaglas in partnership with Wicona Projects.

Hydro invests in Taiwan remelt plant

Hydro has signed an agreement to acquire a 45 percent ownership stake in Famco, an aluminium remelt plant under construction in Taiwan. Famco will have an initial annual production of about 75,000 tons of extrusion ingot.

'Wood' systems meet building trends

As an answer to the new trends within interior design, such as the return of the pure tones of nature, and the growing requests of restoration projects, Hydro has invested in a new wood-effect paint line, installed in the Pombal factory, which is located in the Portuguese district of Leiria.

Facing environmental issues

“Hydro will use technology and innovation to make aluminium a greener metal than it already is,” said Hydro's scientist, Halvor Kvande, at the TMS conference in New Orleans on Monday. His presentation adressed Hydro's commitment to the environmental challenges that the aluminium industry is facing.

Hydro aiding children in Tajikistan

Hydro is funding USD 150,000 of UNICEF’s aid program in Tajikistan. The money will be spent on helping the local population, especially children and mothers, survive the extreme winter conditions with severe sub-zero temperatures.

Qatalum on track

A year after preparation of the construction site started, the leaders of Qatalum and Hydro's Projects organization say that the building of the new aluminium plant in Qatar is on track. Site preparation is now almost completed, and the foundations for some of the buildings have already been laid.

Inge K. Hansen proposed as new Hydro board member

Hydro’s nomination committee is proposing Inge K. Hansen as a new member of the Board of Directors to replace Svein Rennemo, who has asked to step down as member of the board. The proposal of the nomination committee will be placed before a corporate assembly meeting on 12 March.
