Hydro and Amnesty International Norway have long been actively engaged in a dialog on business and human rights issues.

In marking the organization’s 50th anniversary on May 28, Amnesty asked Brandtzæg and others in Norway to contribute comments to a video that is posted on the group’s web site.

Hydro’s cooperation agreement with Amnesty aims to safeguard and promote human rights in areas where the company operates and to support Amnesty’s human rights work.

In addition, Amnesty supplies speakers and training for Hydro employees in handling dilemmas related to human rights. Amnesty occasionally participates in the Hydro Fundamentals leadership development program.

“Both Amnesty and Hydro consider dialog and cooperation important tools in meeting challenges relating to human rights in an increasingly globalized business world,” says Ivar Oellingrath of Hydro’s Corporate Social Responsibility staff.
