Hydro is a supplier of energy-efficient façades enabling high-performing buildings, zero-energy buildings and even some showcase energy-positive buildings. We have activities all over the world and are known in the market under the brand names Wicona, Technal and Domal.
Aluminium-based façade solutions are essential in energy-efficient buildings, where sophisticated solutions are needed. The building “skin” contains many functions, like sun shading, thermal and photovoltaic energy producers, sensors and motors, which depends on load-bearing capability.
Hydro’s advanced façade solutions incorporate technologies such as active double-skin facades for ventilation and heating and sun-shading devices.

Since Hydro in March started measuring energy production and consumption at the company’s German test center for energy-efficient aluminium building solutions, the building has produced as much as four times more power than it has used.
Extrusion
Aluminium ingot is heated and pressed through shaping tools, to make profiles for various products. Aluminium is increasingly taking over from copper as preferred metal for tubing in heat exchangers and air conditioners. There is no end to what shapes aluminium end products can take.
