The Hydro Academy is a seminar targeted towards product designers and engineers but applicable to anyone involved in aluminium. 

The Hydro Academy, which was the first of its kind to be set up in the UK, is based on Norsk Hydro’s unique, well established format which is designed to give you the tools to create the optimal profile solution.

The programme provides a unique opportunity for attendees to explore how extrusion can be used to solve manufacturing challenges, by liaising directly with experts in the field.

Presentations focus on the aluminum extrusion process including profile design, alloy selection, aluminium properties and uses and fabrication techniques such as welding, machining and bending. 

The seminar concludes with product workshops which demonstrate innovative aluminium extrusions and applications.

A tour of Hydro's plant in Bedwas takes place on day 2 which includes transport to and from the plant.  The extrusion process is comprehensively demonstrated as well as the anodising and fabrication facilities. 

The visit is an optional extra in addition to the day long seminar.
