With an established reputation as a reliable supplier of extrusions to the marine industry, company management believed it was important to ensure conformity throughout the manufacturing process.

DNV as a Classification body for independent certification assures customers that the aluminium products meet specified requirements and are suitable for operational use in marine applications.

Following a submission report, plant audit and sample testing, the entire proposal was then reviewed by DNV.  HAE UK was subsequently recommended for approval, a procedure which took approximately 12 months in total.

"This is going to support our work to develop the marine market sector, since DNV certification is often a requirement in this area," says Hartwin Hagen, Managing Director of Hydro Aluminium Extrusion.

DNV approval enables Hydro to confirm that their products have been certified by an independent third party and that they meet the appropriate marine classification requirements.
