With an established reputation as a reliable supplier of extrusions to the marine industry, company management believed it was important to ensure conformity throughout the manufacturing process.
Hydro chose Lloyd's Register as the Classification body for independent certification, in order to ensure customers that the aluminium products meet specified requirements and are suitable for operational use in marine applications.
Following a submission report, plant audit and sample testing by an independent test house on Lloyds behalf, the entire proposal was then reviewed by Lloyds. HAE UK was subsequently recommended for approval, a procedure which took approximately 5 months in total.
"This is going to support our work to develop the marine market sector, since Lloyd's certification is often a requirement in this area," says Derrick Webb, who leads Hydro Aluminium Extrusion UK.
Lloyd's registration enables Hydro to confirm that their products have been certified by an independent third party and that they meet the appropriate marine classification requirements.
