Insulation - Polyamide Joining

Aluminium’s high coefficient of thermal conductivity is not so desirable in applications where low heat transfer is required such as in window and door frames.

There are two common methods of introducing a thermal barrier within the aluminium extrusions to reduce the conductance of heat.

The thermal break method usually employed by Sapa joins two extrusions using polyamide strips which are rolled into position.

This also simplifies the application of dual colours to window and door systems as different coloured extrusions can be used on the inside and outside of the window.

With this method, major issues such as chemical usage and noise pollution do not apply, greatly reducing environmental implications.
