Split condenser: Manifolds are key elements!

A state-of-the-art all-aluminium brazed heat exchanger has a manifold (header) at either end of the flat tubes, as shown in picture.

Hydro Aluminium Precision Tubing has over 30 years of experience in manufacturing automotive heat exchanger tubing. This wealth of experience is now being used in the non-automotive heat exchanger sector, where the transfer from copper coil heat exchangers to all-aluminium heat exchangers is now underway.

One-piece welded tube manifolds, incorporating a brazed clad layer, offer excellent joint formation in a controlled atmosphere brazing process. Hydro Aluminium Precision Tubing offers manifold tubes in a size range of 6-to-150 mm outside diameter and with wall thicknesses of 0.6-to-6.0 mm. In addition to simple round tube manifolds, we offer rectangular “D” shaped and other shaped designs upon request.

To meet the needs of the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration markets, Hydro Aluminium Precision Tubing has developed a standard range of alloys and components to suit a vast array of applications. In addition to these standard products, Hydro Aluminium Precision Tubing offers a rapid prototyping service for customers that need something outside the standard range. Hydro has developed high-strength alloys that can be used for manifolds where pressures above 160 bars are required.

Hydro Aluminium Precision Tubing manufactures one-piece welded tube manifolds at facilities in Workington, UK, and Hannover, Germany. Quality and service are a major focus within these facilities, which are both certified to the ISO/TS 16949 standard. A range of manifold tubes manufactured by Hydro for condenser, radiator and oil cooler applications is shown.
