The HVACR industry is shifting their material of choice from copper to aluminium. Hydro has established the new unit – HyVAC tubing – to lead and support this shift.

"The industry is looking for a global player and we are prepared to meet the requirements of customers in the global perspective," says Herbert Höller, who heads the unit.

"We have the technology, expertise and production capabilities in aluminium products to become the preferred partner of the HVACR industry. This team underlines our commitment to making the business of our customers better."

The new unit – HyVAC tubing – is dedicated to the HVACR industry, and will serve the customers on a global scale.

The unit comprises some 20 employees, and combines both commercial and technical expertise. Their efforts will support customers in Asia, the Americas and Europe.

"This is a new and growing market for aluminium, similar to what we saw 30 years ago when we pioneered the move from copper to aluminium in the automotive industry," says Salvador Biosca, who leads Hydro's aluminium tubing operations.

"We remain strongly positioned as a partner to the automotive industry. We want to achieve the same position in HVACR."

In addition to its global applications and development organization, Hydro produces aluminium tubing for the HVACR industry from sites in Brazil, China, Europe and North America.
