Hydro keeps developing HVAC aluminium presence in India

After a well-attended brazing seminar in New Delhi in February, Hydro's aluminium tubing unit is continuing to develop its presence in India while meeting with customers at ACREX 2013.

March 1, 2013

Brazing seminar
The brazing seminar was the first of its kind in India.

Hydro is attending ACREX, the largest HVACR trade show in India, for the fourth consecutive time, and will exhibit new tubing solutions for fin and tube heat exchangers.

H-BIG welded tubes
The new herringbones inner grooved welded tubes will be presented at ACREX.

Its new inner-grooved tube – called H-BIG – will be one of the highlights. The grooves, which follow a herringbone-like pattern, are specially designed to offer very high heat exchange performance. Presented for the first time in the United States at AHR Dallas earlier this year, this new aluminium tube is a high-end alternative to precision drawn tube and straight/helical inner grooved tubes.

Hydro will also present:

  • Aluminium line sets for split-system air conditioners
  • Micro-channel tubes (MPE) and solutions for brazed heat exchangers
  • Welded tubes and manifolds for heat exchangers

ACREX will be held in Mumbai from March 7-9. Hydro's booth will be K24.

Brazing seminar

In February, some 25 potential customers gathered in New Delhi for an aluminium seminar hosted jointly by Hydro's precision tubing unit and the US-based brazing company Lucas Milhaupt.

The seminar was the first of its kind in India, and it generated positive interest from participants who are looking to replace their more expensive copper solutions with aluminium. They also learned more about brazing, which is critical when making heat exchangers that use both aluminium fins and aluminium tubes. Lucas Milhaupt addressed the aspects of brazing.

Topics covered by Hydro included:

  • Basics of aluminium
  • Copper versus aluminium heat exchangers
  • Mechanical properties of aluminium
  • Alloy selection
  • Assembly and corrosion

Both companies are considering additional seminars like this in the future.
