Is it necessary to use a special aluminium alloy?
Hydro: Yes. Hydro only recommends its HyLife™ Solar alloy which has been developed and tested for solar thermal applications.

Does the absorber sheet need to be in any particular aluminium alloy to match Hydro's HyLife™ Solar tubes?
Hydro: The aluminium tube should be slightly more noble than the sheet in order to secure that eventual corrosion is caught by the plate. Since aluminium tubes in HyLife™ Solar are of a very noble aluminium alloy, they fulfill this requirement. Having an all aluminium absorber will significantly reduce the risk of corrosion between tube and sheet compared to systems with copper tubes and aluminium sheets.
