Often, there is more tubing between the collectors and the boiler than inside the collectors, especially when the collectors are located on the roof of the building and the boiler in the basement of the building. So by also using aluminium tubing for the connecting lines, the cost savings on the complete solar system may be taken even further.
Connecting lines in aluminium can be bent by hand and installed just like connecting lines made from copper tubes. The smooth surface of the aluminium tube offers no more pressure drop than a copper tube, but significantly less than the pressure drop from a corrugated stainless steel tube in the same dimension.
