Hydro's aluminum operations in North America consists of 12 aluminum facilities from New York to Mexico. We have developed an organizational structure and business culture that encourage entrepreneurship. Facility managers and engineers can make the right decisions quickly. At the same time, standard performance benchmarks ensure the highest levels of performance across the entire network.

Aluminum Metal

We operate the strongest aluminum metal sourcing network in North America. Our Aluminum Metal unit produces primary-quality billet with high recycled aluminum content in the region’s largest aluminum remelt network. Our six casthouses provide premium aluminum metals and custom aluminum alloys in the standard 1000, 3000, and 6000 series.

We have invested $100 million in upgraded casthouses and technology to boost our annual aluminum remelt capacity to more than 400,000 metric tons. To ensure a steady source of metal for our customers, our dedicated aluminum metal sourcing group covers the globe. Our customers can count on the right metal at the right time.

Aluminum Products

Our Aluminum Products unit is a world leader in advanced aluminum extrusion technology. We operate ten facilities in the U.S. and Mexico, making us a leading aluminum extruder and the largest aluminum drawn tubing producer in North America. Four dedicated aluminum ontract manufacturing facilities and over 500,000 sq. ft. of fabrication space provide precision components and finished assemblies and sub-assemblies.

Our aluminum fabrication ranges from the basics - cutting, drilling, punching, bending and stamping - to complex assembly with state-of-the-art robotic welding, CNC technology and mechanical fastening. It is all supported by value-added services, such as process engineering and outstanding just-in-time delivery. With a major presence in transportation, office furniture, consumer durables and many other markets, we have the expertise to provide the full range of aluminum solutions.
