Hapco is proud of its reputation for high quality and makes heavy demands of its key supplier, Hydro Aluminum.
For nearly a decade, Hapco and Hydro’s Ellenville, New York plant have partnered together in aluminum lightpole solutions. Today, Hydro supplies the bulk of Hapco’s aluminum, each week delivering tons of extruded porthole tubing in varying lengths with diameters from 3" to 10". All product comes in T4 condition for further Hapco fabrication, including tapering.
But why Hydro Aluminum? “Because they’ve earned it,” said Bob Gunn, President of Hapco. “Time and again, Hydro delivers good quality product, on-time. And when its crunch time, they step up to the plate, teaming with us to overcome challenges.” Gunn has also been impressed with Hydro’s willingness to proactively propose new cost effective procedures to streamline business practices.
Unique Hydro services have extended from product development to delivery. For instance, Hydro’s extrusion porthole process yields a more concentric and reliable lightpole than seamless tubing offered elsewhere. And a specially designed 6063 alloy meets demanding Hapco heavy fabrication requirements. Additionally, Hydro has developed a manufacturing and shipping operation that virtually guarantees capacity and on-time delivery.
“We’ve leveraged the capabilities of our extensive US plant network to deliver the best possible product in the best possible time,” said Beverly D’Attilo, Hydro Aluminum District Sales Manager. “Our Ellenville facility produces the bulk of the product for Hapco. But during peak periods, or in emergencies, our St. Augustine, Florida and Phoenix, Arizona facilities provide critical back-up.” Operations move so smoothly that turnaround times - from order receipt to delivery - can be as short as 9 days with a quality rejection rate below 0.5%. “We can only be this consistent in quality and delivery because we have worked hard at developing state-of-the-art process technology and an open, honest day-to-day working relationship,” explained D’Attilo.
“Communications is the cornerstone of our partnership with Hydro,” concurred Gunn. “We share a vision to seek excellence in four key areas – product quality, on-time shipments, customer service, and cost-effective pricing. And both of our organizations recognize the achievement of such excellence hinges on open communications and a willingness to go the extra mile to be successful.”
