Hydro Aluminum North America provides Kustom Signals with over a dozen fabricated parts, produced from a variety of profiles extruded at Hydro’s Monett, Missouri, plant and fabricated at its Cassville, Missouri, facility. This integrated extrusion and fabrication capability has helped Kustom Signals reduce their extrusion suppliers from four to one, significantly increasing cost efficiency.

Hydro-supplied parts include housings for several radar products, including handheld, as well as heat sinks for the in-trunk recording units of mobile video systems. As a leader in extrusion and fabrication technology, Hydro manufactures to tight tolerances, especially as required by heat sink production.

Hydro’s flexibility has allowed us to improve response time to Kustom Signals’ production schedules – lead time has been cut from eleven weeks to four. And Hydro’s quality control has greatly increased product quality with a minimum of rejects.

On an ongoing basis, Hydro works closely with Kustom Signals to review design and manufacturing tolerances in the development of new products that meet the evolving requirements of the constantly changing public safety market.
