Winning designs in the ET Foundations 2005 International Aluminum Extrusion Design Competition will be displayed at the Aluminum USA Show and Conference during National Manufacturing Week in Chicago, March 7-10, 2005
This is the first time that the winning entries will be on display during these important industry events, attended by more than 26,000 manufacturing and design professionals.
Both Professional and Student Design Competitions will be held. Once again, Hydro is sponsoring the Competition awards, including the Hydro Sustainable Design Award for the student entry that best addresses societal and/or environmental issues.
In addition, the First-Place student designer along with his or her faculty advisor will be invited to attend the Aluminum USA Conference and will have the opportunity to present their design process at a conference session.
The Student Design Competition introduces a new generation of designers to the virtues of aluminum extrusion and stimulates innovative ideas for new applications. Last year’s First-Place student entry was an extruded aluminum traffic light post submitted by Shivangi Narke, a graduate student in industrial design at Purdue University in Indiana. Ms. Narke also was awarded the Hydro Sustainable Design Award for her idea.
