The installation is one of eight new solar projects the computer chip giant is installing at its locations in Arizona, California, New Mexico and Oregon. The eight installations will generate a total of approximately 2.5 megawatts of power and should be completed later this year.
The California installation will cover nearly six acres of land, making it one of the largest non-utility ground-mounts in the state at the time of this release. It is the only installation of the eight that will be ground mounted instead of rooftop installed. Each facility will use the power generated at their respective site, making them an efficient source of electricity with savings on grid delivery losses.
Hydro is extruding and machining the aluminum structures at it manufacturing facility
in Phoenix. The support structures will be anchored with Terrafix Solarpark earthscrews, which allow the frames to be securely mounted directly to the ground without pouring concrete slabs.
