Hydro Aluminium Precision Tubing has developed an Internal Heat Exchanger for R744 (CO2) air condition systems, where state of art extrusion technology has been combined with computer assisted design and the right choice of aluminium alloy.
The unique and compact design of the internal heat exchanger gives the user the possibility to operate with a much shorter length and enables a very narrow bending radius.
Extensive CFD and FEM modelling has been carried out with the objective to develop the most appropriate Internal Heat Exchanger accommodating the requirements in the market.
The outcome is a unique design with an optimal compromise between:

- Performance
- Pressure Drop
- Burst pressure
- Extrudability
- Machining/bending

The parts are available in a few designs/configurations and alloys with the advantage of matching the A/C-line alloy already used in mobile air condition systems.
Hydro Aluminium Precision Tubing's co-axial tube concept is not restricted to the mobile air conditioning but can be utilized in a variety of different air conditioning applications. However this design is specially optimized for applications where R744 is used as refrigerant. Different designs and cross sections of the extrusion are possible upon request.
