Large extrusions with high specifications in terms of strength, lightness and ductility are used in products and structures in many application sectors such as transport and construction.
Here we present examples of components and product based on big aluminiumm extrusions from Hydro. Please contact us for detailed information and/or more references.

Extrusion for lorry box body construction. Width: 420 mm, height: 25 mm. This wide extrusion minimises the number of extrusion panels used in big box body constructions; fewer extrusions, fewer joints, easier assembly. More elegant and smoother design. |
Road signs

Meag Genevad´s road signs are mainly made from aluminium extrusions and are built up of extrusion modules of various heights that are ‘stacked’ on one another. The extrusions are tongue and grooved which makes them easy to assemble. The largest module, 510 mm high, which was previously made by friction welding two extrusions together, is now made in one piece using Hydro’s largest press.
One extrusion instead of two has a large number of advantages. The extrusion is more stable, but above all flatter, all in all also bet¬ter financially, logistically and practically.

Ship balconies

|
Celebrity Galaxy, a massive cruise liner, has undergone extensive extension work where 400 new balconies were built on to three of the decks using a building method developed by a Finnish company, LSK-Project OY.
A steel console is fitted externally on to which is placed an aluminium balcony platform and an aluminium and glass railing. The platform construction consists of four large floor extrusions and one external cover extrusion. The main extrusion - all of 420 mm wide -used in the platform is a hollow extrusion for maximum strength and low weight. The great extrusion width gives a larger area with fewer extrusions, greater strength and shorter assembly times.
