Anodizing creates a hard surface combining good protection against mechanical wear with elegant finish.
Anodizing is an electrochemical process that artificially thickens the natural, transparent film of aluminium oxide integrated on the surface of the aluminium.
During the process, the aluminium profile is immersed in an electrolytic bath where a current is passed through it, with the aluminium acting as the anode in the circuit.
While the natural oxide film is only 0.2 microns, after anodizing the film commonly ranges in thickness from 5 microns to 25 microns depending on the desired application requirements.
Anodizing can be made in different colours.
