Special hull design
Båtservice in Mandal has developed a special hull design that has aroused considerable international interest. Apart from catamarans, the range includes search and rescue (SAR) vessels, patrol boats and coastguard vessels. Based on a specially developed, basic platform, the boats delivered are fully customised.
Aluminium took over
With aluminium Båtservice achievs low weight, good speed capacity, optimal running costs and high levels of safety. Aluminium – often a combination of extrusions and sheet – is to be found throughout the boats in the hulls, decks, walls and superstructures. Upwards of 20 extrusions are used in Båtservice’s ‘construction kit’ and many are delivered as long as 13 metres. They form the horizontal wall elements, frames, stanchions and beams, longitudinal reinforcement extrusions (so-called bulb extrusions), decks, racks, stairways and ladders. They are mainly welded together although bolts and threaded joints are also used.
