Load carrier systems

Mont Blanc Industri AB develops and makes load carrier systems, both directly for vehicle manufacturers in the shape of customised products for each make and model of vehicle and for the aftermarket with a large range of accessories for the majority of car models. Products include roof racks, bicycle carriers for both roofs and tow hooks, ski holders and roof boxes.

Design increasingly important

The largest product group today is roof racks. Hitherto, these have been made of plastic-covered steel profiles. These still constitute a large part of the product range, but cargo rails are increasingly being made from aluminium extrusions. Weight, strength and the possibility of integrating various functions are important but not decisive in the choice of aluminium extrusions as a construction material. Today a roof rack it is an important part of a car’s design and appearance. A rack with an appealing design and elegant surface finish are a part of the car and create added value that are associated with image, prestige and quality.

Aluminium replacing steel

Consequently the Mont Blanc range includes a large number of roof rack models where aluminium extrusions are replacing steel. In all some ten types of extrusions are used which include adaptors for American crossbars.
