Those used for permanent and access applications are for the most part made of aluminium extrusions and the use of aluminium is increasing steadily.

Rack gearing means that the lifts carry their own drive units which eliminates the need for a machine room. This self-contained design also obviates the need for an expensive lift shaft.

Earlier steel and sheet metal design have been replaced by aluminium, a switch mainly driven by the hunt for lower weight while improved characteristics and more efficient production through the elimination of welding were also decisive factors. On top of this the lifts were virtually maintenance free and attractively designed.

The frame extrusion of the lift’s folding door designed with torsional stiffness and for ease of joining. The wall extrusions are joined with silicon glue to dampen vibration and make them watertight. Over 30 types of aluminium extrusions are used in the Alimak’s range of lifts.

Industrial lifts in the ALIMAK SE series are used for regular service and  maintenance work in district heating systems, nuclear power and power stations, silos, chimneys, reactors, cooling towers and scrubbers. They can lift anything from 300 kg to 24 tons!
