Once based on the concrete business the company’s operations today are for the most part with lightweight materials like aluminium.
Meag Genevad’s product range includes practically all types of products that are used for traffic safety and control. There are road signs and signposts including the materials necessary to install them, wire and beams for crash barriers as well as a large number of products used for directing traffic during road works. Most of the products are developed and manufactured by the company. Meag aims to supply turnkey solutions from planning to installation on site. Sales are through the company’s own ten or so sales offices or distributors to end users such as construction contractors, the National Road Administration, the National Rail Administration and local authorities.

Stacked extrusions
The company’s signs are mainly made from aluminium extrusions and are built up of extrusion modules of various heights that are ‘stacked’ on one another. The extrusions are tongue and grooved which makes them easy to assemble. The largest module, 510 mm high, which was previously made by friction welding two extrusions together, is now made in one piece using Hydro’s largest press with a force of 7,000 tons. The Genevad range consists of upwards of 35 extrusions used as sign modules, joints and fasteners, frame and reflector extrusions etc.

Shared visions
Kjell Carlsson, purchasing manager at Meag Genevad, is a member of the SafeRoad Group’s negotiating team that is continually working with developing and optimising the Group’s supply system and logistics through long-term and focused supplier agreements.
“Our strategy is to create long-term relationships with determined and professional suppliers who have the potential and will to share our visions in developments and improvements. In this case we selected Hydro and look forward to cooperation that benefits both partners.”
Despite the recession, Meag operates in a dynamic market. Major investments are being made in the infrastructure in Sweden and the company itself has long-term agreements and is sole supplier to customers like the National Road Administration and the National Rail Administration, and is one of the main suppliers to construction companies PEAB and NCC.
Nothing stands in the way for Meag!
