Joint venture Hydro – Orkla approved

With approvals from various competition authorities the joint venture between Hydro and Orkla to form a new aluminium extrusion organization has been approved and will be formed from September 2nd

HAP continues as strong partner

EU has approved of the plans to form a joint venture between Hydro´s and Orklas extrusion activities. EU:s approval is based on a requirement of the sale of HAP:s units in Raufoss and Vetlanda. The sale of these units is estimated to be completed at the end of the fourth quarter this year. Until then nothing will be changed and Hydro Aluminium Profiler will continue as an own unit with retained company name and identity.

 As a result of the proposed joint venture between Hydro’s and Orkla’s profile businesses, the EU Directorate-General for Competition has demanded measures be taken to reduce the combined market shares in Norway and Sweden as well as the heat exchanger market in Europe.

Swedish extrusion activities merges into one!

Hydro Aluminium Profiler AB, Sweden, has moved its facilities for administration, sales and machining of aluminium extrusions from Åseda to the Hydro unit in Vetlanda. The new rebuilt and expanded unit was officially opened Oct 25 in the presence of 120 invited guests representing customers, staff, suppliers and colleagues. In connection with the move both companies have been united to one legal unit under the name Hydro Aluminium Profiler AB.

Agreement renewed with Norway’s largest window manufacturer

Hydro Aluminium Profiler has signed an agreement to continue as the sole supplier of aluminium extrusions to NorDan for its windows and glazed doors. The company is Norway’s largest manufacturer of windows. The agreement runs to the end of 2014 and covers about 3,000 tons of aluminium extrusions.

Hydro and Orkla in joint venture

Norsk Hydro ASA and Orkla ASA have agreed to combine their respective profiles, building systems and tubing business, creating the world's leading aluminium solutions provider. The new combined company, to be named Sapa, will be a 50/50 joint venture owned by Hydro and Orkla.

Hydro signs long-term contract with Alloc

Hydro Aluminium Profiler recently signed a long-term agreement with Alloc a leading maker of laminate flooring. The five-year deal is for the supply of more than 75 million aluminium extrusion locking clips that enable flooring to be connected without the use of glue.

MLR is enjoying great success with its mobile lighting rigs that make it possible for grass to grow in sports stadiums even during dark, cold periods. Today the rigs are used in nearly 40 sports arenas in ten countries! Gamla Ullevi in Gothenburg is one of the latest to be added to the list.

As sole supplier of instrument landing systems, ILS, to Northrop Grumman Park Air Systems, Normeka has over 40 per cent of the world market! Furthermore, Normeka are machining specialists mainly for aluminium with a range of their own design with products based among other things on the expanded metal technique. A new product in the range has just been launched that also has aeronautical connections.
