Hydro Aluminium Profiler becomes strong part of Norwegian aluminium company group

The remaining part of the Joint venture project between Hydro and Orkla is now completed when Hydro Aluminium Profiler in Raufoss and Vetlanda (HAP) now becomes part of a company group specialized in aluminium activities, owned by Norwegian Skainvest AS.

Four Hydro companies

The sale of HAP is based on directives from EU:s competition authority in order to balance a JV:s dominating market shares on the Nordic markets.

Skainvest, owned and headed by the Norwegian entrepreneur Ståle Karlsen based in Karmøy Norway, consists of three previous Hydro companies in Norway and Denmark; Hydal a.s. - producer of customized aluminium cabinets, Hytrans a.s. - leading producer of aluminium systems and bodies for transport vehicles and Extrusion Tools a.s. - manufacturer of extrusion dies. Now it´s time for the fourth Hydro-transaction when Hydro Aluminium Profiler in Raufoss and Vetlanda becomes a strong part of the aluminium group. With the acquisition of HAP (after the transaction has been approved by the EU:s Competition Authority), the group will have some 300 employees with an annual turnover of ca 900 MNOK and presence in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland.

HAP remains HAP

Skainvest´s company group now strengthens it´s position within the aluminium industry by creating the Hydal Aluminium Profiler, which will be the new company name. The Group thereby has extensive resources and competence in the aluminium extrusion business, from die manufacturing to finished product. The Group´s resources when it comes to customer experience and solid market positions in addition create a strategically strong platform for competitive and successful business. The shared values of HAP, which thus will remain HAP, and those of Ståle Karlsen, with long experience within Hydro, have strong focus on customer benefits and efficiency. The companies will be characterized by simplicity, swiftness, personal service and reliability.

Hydro will continue as supplier of aluminium bolt and the cooperationn regarding research and development will continue. HAP’s existing sales- and service organization will remain the same until the sales transaction is completed later this autumn.
