Trafik & Fritid has developed a new range of substitute benches where things like the size, fittings and accessories are completely customised.

Wide range

The wild joy or deep depression on the substitute bench is often a good sign of how a match is going. Not that they are all made by Trafik & Fritid but they are without a doubt an integral part of many sports. They are therefore an important product in the company’s range which also includes much of the other equipment necessary such as goals, flags, corner posts, information and scoreboards, and line marking machines.

From standard to customised

Trafik & Fritid has marketed standard size substitute benches from three to six metres long for many years. Market demand has led to the development of a new range of customised products with the result that they are all made to customer specification for things like size, glass thickness, bench fittings of single or double rows of wood or plastic benches, on wheels or with a floor.

All from one extrusion

“A single extrusion is the building block for the new substitute benches. With Hydro’s help we have created a stable and strong design that simplifies assembly,” says Erik Andersson, managing director of Trafik & Fritid here standing in a special version, a press box for arenas without a press stand.

Everything is built from a single extrusion without the need for welding – all joints are made with screws. Simple and practical, not least when it comes to onsite service and repairs! Hydro carries out all the anodising and bending, other treatment and assembly is done by Trafik & Fritid.

“The extrusion had been developed in close cooperation with Hydro,” explains the managing director of Trafik & Fritid, Erik Andersson. “Substitute benches are exposed to all sorts of weather as well as rough treatment from players who jump and hang on them! Together we have created a stable and strong design that simplifies assembly.”

New goals

Trafik & Fritid supplies its new substitute bench ready assembled – not flat packed. The idea is to save time and money for the customer who does not have to spend a couple of days putting the bench together. The success of this approach has led to new joint projects so that Trafik & Fritid and Hydro have their sights set on new goals – football goals with extrusion design and product concept based on the experiences gained from the substitute benches!
