Extrudability

Extrusion is the introduction of aluminium into a container and forcing it at high pressure and temperature through the profiled opening of a die.

Despite almost limitless ability to take on complex shapes, this extruded section has to follow some construction rules.

The following criteria have to be taken into consideration to gain the maximum benefit from aluminium extrusion:

	Instead of     Preferred solutions
Uniformity of the wall thickness
Rounded shapes replace sharp edges
Avoid small tongs
Symmetry and uniformity of the wall thickness
Soften abrupt shape variation
