Ginding; grinding smooths the profile surface. Stripes may be left in the grinding direction. Fineness is depending on the grain size on the abrasive.
Polishing; polishing is typically a finishing treatment after grinding or an intermediate treatment before mirror finishing. Polishing differs from grinding in the obtained degree of surface roughness.
Brushing; by brushing the profile surface roughness can vary depending on the choice of brushes, abrasive, and technique. Hereby a fine, mat-polished appearance can be obtained, which has the advantage compared to mirror finishing, that it is considerably less sensitive.
Mirror finishing; a thin layer of metal is removed during mirror finishing. Due to the friction heat created by the polishing a thin surface layer becomes liquid and is left smooth as a mirror.
